Au Pair Classes in Washington, DC & Maryland
Complete your au pair education requirement while improving your English at the International Language Institute (ILI). ILI has served international students in the Washington, DC area since 1970 and offers a special tuition promotion for eligible au pairs.
$550 Au Pair English Promotion
New au pair students may enroll in a qualifying English program for $550 tuition. Au pair organizations commonly tell participants that approximately 72–75 instructional hours may be used as the equivalent needed to meet the education requirement. Requirements and how hours are counted can vary by sponsor, so please verify the number of hours you need with your au pair organization or local counselor before enrolling.

Register for the Au Pair Promotion
Education Requirement
Most au pair participants must complete at least six semester hours of academic credit or the equivalent in a formal educational setting at an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution. Individual au pair organizations may determine how a particular course or number of classroom hours is applied toward their participants’ education requirement. Please confirm your course selection with your au pair organization or local counselor before enrolling.
After successful completion, ILI can provide documentation showing the instructional hours completed.
Additional Classes: 10% Au Pair Discount
After using the initial $550 English promotion, au pairs receive a 10% tuition discount on additional eligible ILI classes. Au pairs also receive a 10% tuition discount on foreign-language classes.

How to Enroll
- Complete the Au Pair Registration Form.
- Provide proof of current au pair status (such as J-1/DS-2019 documentation or au pair identification).
- Pay the applicable registration fee and tuition.
- Complete the ILI English placement process if enrolling in an English class.
- Confirm with your au pair organization/local counselor that your selected course will satisfy the education requirement you need.
The $550 promotion is for new au pair students and applies to qualifying Intensive and Semi-Intensive English programs. A $100 registration/application fee applies to new students. Textbook/material charges, if applicable, are separate unless specifically stated otherwise.
