Study in person or online from a live instructor using Zoom! You can choose which platform you prefer: Some students want to be in the classroom, others want to study online via Zoom. At ILI, you can do either but please check with your au pair agency first if you are allowed to take online classes. We have 360-degree cameras in our classrooms enabling online students to feel part of the class. This hybrid class environment allows students to engage with each other and the instructor and to practice reading, writing, listening, and speaking the English Language.

Are you an au pair in the Washington, DC metro area? Then you are probably looking for a place to complete your education requirement. ILI has many affordable classes that you can take to meet your requirement. We also offer a discount on our tuition to all au pairs, so you do not need to spend much more than the $500 your host family pays for your education requirement. The education requirement is 6 credits or the equivalent. Since we are not a college or university, the equivalent is classroom hours (1 classroom hour = 50 minutes). Please check with your au pair organization to determine the number of classroom hours you need to complete. Most au pairs need a total of 72 hours. Here are some examples of how you can complete your education requirement at ILI:

The application fee is $75 for all new students. Use of textbooks included. The required TOEFL textbook is $97. Enroll now in one of our Special Promotion classes!
All new English students take a placement test after submitting a paid registration. The test will determine your starting English level. Students studying online will take the test online. Students studying in person, take the test at the institute. After the successful completion of your classes, you can request a certificate showing the number of hours completed.
* Semi-Intensive English classes are subject to availability. Au pairs may be placed on a waitlist until space opens up at the appropriate level.

We also offer Arabic, Chinese Mandarin, German, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Portuguese, Russian, Turkish and Urdu. There are several different levels for each language and classes meet once per week in the evening or on Saturday morning. Sessions start 4 times per year.
